1.0 star star_border star_border star_border star_borderThe first time I saw him he told me that he had a bacterium in his nose without checking me well, he told me that I should use an antibiotic, he didn't prescribe me on any paper, I had to memorize it and buy it myself. I came back again because I have a lot of pain in my nose, the doctor just checked a little and gave me some x-rays. He told me that I didn't have anything. This can't be because it hurts a lot.

5.0 star star star star starDr Kern studied my chart and listened to what I had to say. He was very straightforward on the potential issues with the surgery yet at the same time I feel comfortable with his skills and abilities

1.0 star star_border star_border star_border star_borderI felt quite disrespected when i involuntarily jerked in response to being jabbed and the doctor rather loudly demanded i hold still. He said, at least three times, "you need to cooperate and if you don't you're going to end up getting packing in your nose and you won't like that."

2.0 star star star_border star_border star_borderHe did not answer any questions or ask if I had any questions. I don’t feel he discussed treatment options with me. He was in the room less than 10 minutes and felt like he had his hand on the door for half that time.

4.0 star star star star star_borderEven though he spends a very small amount of time with you as a patient, if you can nail him down to speak to you, he is competent and to the point. His experience is what made me feel more at ease with the procedure.

5.0 star star star star starDr. Kern's turbinate reduction on my sinuses end my decades long series of biannual sinus infections. The recovery was exactly as he promised. My wife, who had an even more severe case had the same experience. Dr. Kern is a trusted physician of our family, and coming from a family of physicians, there is no greater compliment I can give to a doctor.

1.0 star star_border star_border star_border star_borderI don’t feel like Dr kern listens to me during my visit. When I bring up concerns I feel like I am being minimized. There is no discussion on next steps and what to expect so I am constantly wondering if my symptoms are normal. He often is not wearing a mask and performs scopes with out gloves on.

External Professional Relationships
Pharmaceutical, device, and biotechnology companies frequently collaborate with basic scientists and physicians within an academic medical center to help advance science and improve patient care. These relationships are important in achieving scientific breakthroughs and in establishing the effectiveness and safety of promising new therapies. In order to assure objectivity in clinical research and patient care, the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (Feinberg), Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, Children's Hospital of Chicago Medical Center, and the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab have adopted integrity policies that require research and clinical faculty (in full-time, part-time, and unpaid/voluntary categories) to report compensated and uncompensated external industry relationships. Patients are encouraged to discuss these disclosures with their physician as well as to inquire as to how these relationships are overseen by Feinberg. To learn more about our Disclosure and Professional Integrity Policy, and the conflict of interest policies of our joint affiliate survey partners, please go to our Office for Regulatory Affairs Policies page.
